The John Hulley Sefton Triathlon was started in 2002 by John Moran and a group of friends. It was meant to be a 'one-off' race to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee. However, it proved so popular that they decided they would organise it again the following year and the event has continued ever since.

One of the reasons the race has proved so popular is that the swim, cycle and run race distances are set at the minimum to encourage children and adults to 'have a go'.

In 2011 it celebrated its 10th year and it has achieved some impressive milestones such as Sir Steve Redgrave CBE becoming event patron, becoming the Largest Community triathlon in the World, has been featured on national TV and has raised over £300,000 for its nominated charities.

Let's re launch this wonderful community event!

The Sefton Triathlon Commitee disbanded
